August 15, 2013, Rockville MD: The Center for Advancing Innovation met with 25 NIH Post-docs to tell them about CAI's new initiatives.
August 15, 2013, Baltimore MD: Johns Hopkins Carey Business School invited The Center for Advancing Innovation to be a panelist for their 2013-2014 GMBA Orientation Industry Exposure event. CAI joined a panel from other consulting firms to have a Q&A session with new MBA students. The students asked several excellent questions such as "What's the average day in consulting like? What soft and technical skills are most valued in consulting? What are the best practices in cracking a case? What is the typical career progression?" The panel enjoyed answering the questions and it was wonderful to see the energy and enthusiasm of the new MBA students.
June 2, 2013, Avon Foundation Ceremony, Chicago IL: The 11th annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer season continued with the Avon Walk in Chicago this weekend, raising more than $5.2 million to advance access to care and funding breast cancer prevention and treatment research. The Avon Walk Chicago attracted 2,400 participants from 40 states and Washington, DC, as well as Bermuda and Canada. Additionally, 292 breast cancer survivors and 379 men joined together to raise life-saving funds and awareness for breast cancer. April 17-18, 2013: "The University Role in winning the Global Arms Race in Innovation" Technology Transfer Society Conference at the New York Academy of Science. Rosemarie Truman, the CEO and Founder of The Center for Advancing Innovation co-presented with Brian Cummings, head of Technology Transfer at Ohio State. The presentation title: "The University Role in winning the Global Arms Race in Innovation." Brian and Ms. Truman engaged in a lively discussion regarding the opportunity at stake in early stage technology and new innovative models to commercialize inventions
April 1, 2013: "How to Crack a Case" Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and Johns Hopkins University Public Policy. A common approach to interviewing candidates for a job these days is to present a real life scenario and examine how the candidate approaches the problem; it's called a "case interview." Ms. Truman, CEO and Founder of The Center for Advancing Innovation presented to Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, John Hopkins University School of Medicine as well as John Hopkins University Institute of Public Policy students on "How to Crack a Case." Subsequent to the presentation, there was a case given to the students and they were asked to provide their solution within 20 minutes. Each case team presented and Rosemarie Truman judged the case competition.
